1912, Louis Savignan is a Catholic writer and historian in his forties. His hometown, Clermont-Ferrand, wants him to become its new Member of Parliament. His adulterous relationship with his first love distracts him from this and creates an inner turmoil. Is it possible to live one way and think another?
